NEWSLETTER: FIRST HALF OF SECOND TERM, 2019/2020 SESSION

Greetings to all our esteemed parents.
We give thanks to God Almighty for seeing us through the first half of second term. We appreciate your support
and partnership. We pray that God will continue to guide, protect and shower His blessings upon you and your
family in Jesus’ Name.
MID TERM BREAK
Mid-term holiday commences today, Friday, February 28, 2020 and ends on Sunday, March 8, 2020 which is the
day of resumption.
Each student has been given his/her Welcome Test and the First Half Term Reports. These reports reflect the
students’ efforts. Parents are advised to go through the reports with their children and encourage them to work
harder to produce better results at the end of the term. Parents can discuss concerns about the performance of their
children with the subject teachers when they resume on Sunday, March 8, 2020.
This is to remind parents that the College promotion policy remains the same. The following are the criteria for
1. (a) an average of 65% and above in Junior School.
(b) an average of 60% and above in Senior School.
2. (a) 65% and above in core subjects including Mathematics and English Language in Junior School.
(b) 60% and above in 6 core subjects including Mathematics and English Language in Senior School.
Promotion to the next class is also cumulative and takes into consideration performance in first, second and third
The time for visiting students on Visiting Days (last Sunday of the month, unless otherwise stated) is between 12.00
noon and 5.30 pm. For security reasons, we appeal to all our esteemed parents to leave the College premises by
5.30 pm. This also applies to the days of resumption. Any student who is seen with his/her parent(s)/guardian(s)
after the stipulated time will be sanctioned.
It has been observed that some parents still demand exeat for reasons other than the ones covered by the College
policy. Students will not be allowed to go home except on medical grounds. All other appointments should be slated
for holiday period.
CAMBRIDGE CHECKPOINT EXAMINATION
The 2020 Checkpoint examination for Basic 9 students will start on Monday, 6th April, and end on Wednesday, 8th
April, 2020. Coaching for the examination has commenced and will continue immediately students return from
NECO AND OGUN STATE BECE
The examination dates for both NECO and Ogun State BECE will be communicated to parents in due course.
Basic 9 students will stay in school for one (1) week after NECO BECE. During the one week period,
programmes such as Career Talks, Talent Hunt and variety night will be organized for them. They will have a
minimum of two (2) weeks’ break after NECO BECE, that is, they will be allowed to go home and stay at
home for, at least, two (2) weeks.
Basic 9 students will come back to school after the break to start preparation for Ogun State BECE and lessons
on SS 1 topics. They will also continue with the skills acquisition programme.
All Basic 9 students will stay and remain in school till the end of the session in July 2020.
SS3 students have been registered for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Coaching has
commenced. The examination will start on Tuesday, March 4 and end on Saturday, April 4, 2020.
The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will start at the end of March, 2020. Hence,
SS 3 students will resume on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 to continue their preparation for the examination. All
students in SS 3 have been registered for the NECO-SSCE. It is compulsory that they sit the examination.
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) registration has commenced. The examination will be
conducted in May 2020 for SS 2 students while SS 3 students will sit the examination in June 2020. Interested
parents should contact the Vice Principal, Senior School Mr. N. E. Omomo on 08038161255.
Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-Based Test (TOEFL IBT) measures the candidate’s ability to use
and understand English at the university level. The examination is scheduled for August 2020 for students in SS 2.
Students in SS 3 will sit the examination in June 2020. Interested parents should contact the Vice Principal, Senior
School Mr. N. E. Omomo on 08038161255.
The College has been partnering with New Horizons Systems Solutions Limited to train Basic 7 students in Mobile
Application Development and SS 1 in Coding and Robotics. Also, CODEFEST has started training in Coding and
Robotics for Basic 8 and SS 2 students.
Kindly note the programmes coming up in the second half of the second term.
– Second Term Examination – Monday, March 23 – Wednesday, April 1, 2020
– Leadership Training for SS 2 students at the Sea School – Wednesday, April 15 – Friday, April 24, 2020.
SUPPLEMENTARY ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR 2020/2021 SESSION
The Supplementary Entrance Examination for 2020/2021 session will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2020.
PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES
Parents should ensure that all outstanding school fees are paid on or before Saturday, 8th March, 2020. Students
with outstanding school fees will not be allowed into the College premises. This decision will be strictly enforced.
